Job summary

VisionWorks is seeking a part-time Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to ensure a great patient experience by preparing patients for onsite and remote examinations, performing pre-exam tests, and guiding each step of the process. You will liaise between patients and Optometrists and participate in the initial patient journey.

A one-year related experience and healthcare background are preferred; training is provided. Travel between stores may be required.

Qualifications

• One year of related experience.
• Optical or Healthcare background preferred.
• Medical office/business professionalism required.
• Training provided.

Responsibilities

• Complete patient registration and gather medical history into EMR.
• Assist onsite doctor with eye examinations and document results.
• Support remote exams including pre-testing, documentation, and video conferencing.
• Transition patients to retail staff with doctor recommendations.
• Explain MVC plan benefits and assist with insurance preauthorization.
• Schedule appointments and manage exam books; contact no-shows.
• Maintain patient flow and answer clinical questions in person or by phone.
• Instruct patients on contact lens use and handle orders.
