Job summary

VisionWorks is seeking a part-time Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to support patients through in-person and remote eye exams. The role involves preparing patients, performing pre-exam tests, and explaining steps with clarity to ensure a positive experience.

Ideal candidates have at least 1 year in optical/healthcare, solid patient-service skills, and the ability to work flexible schedules including travel between stores. Training is provided.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of related experience in optical/healthcare preferred.
• HS diploma or GED required.
• Medical office professionalism is required.
• Strong customer service and communication skills are essential.
• Willingness to work flexible schedules and travel between stores.

Responsibilities

• Complete patient registration and gather medical history for EMR.
• Assist onsite doctors with eye examinations and explain preliminary tests.
• Support remote exams with pre-testing and video conferencing; document results.
• Transition patients to retail staff with doctor recommendations.
• Explain MVC plan benefits and help preauthorize insurance where needed.
• Schedule appointments and manage exam books; contact no-shows and cancellations.
• Maintain patient records and ensure equipment and supplies are stocked and clean.
• Instruct patients on contact lens care and stock watch for lens orders.
• Travel between locations as required.
