Job summary

Visionworks is seeking a Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to help ensure a great patient experience by preparing patients for on-site and remote examinations. You will perform pre-exam tests, document results in EMR, and explain steps to patients while liaising with Optometrists throughout the patient journey.

You will also assist with pre-testing, remote exams, and transitions to retail staff, while maintaining accurate records and supporting plan benefits explanations.

Qualifications

• One year of related experience.
• Optical or Healthcare background preferred.
• Medical office/business professionalism required.
• HS diploma, GED or equivalent related job experience.
• Training provided.

Responsibilities

• Complete patient registration and submit medical history into EMR.
• Assist onsite doctor with patient care and eye examinations; document results in EMR.
• Support remote eye exams including pre-testing and video conferencing.
• Transition patient to a retail associate with care plan explanations.
• Preauthorize insurance per SOPs and manage exam bookings.
• Maintain patient flow and respond to clinical questions.
