Job summary

Visionworks of America is seeking a Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to support patient experiences by preparing them for onsite and remote examinations, conducting pre-exam tests, and explaining each step of the process. The role acts as a liaison between patients and Optometrists, helping to start the patient journey effectively.

In addition to assisting with exams, you will handle remote eye exams, document findings in EMR, coordinate with retail staff, and help with insurance

Qualifications

• One year of related experience.
• Optical or Healthcare background preferred.
• HS diploma, GED or equivalent related job experience.
• Training provided.

Responsibilities

• Complete patient registration and gather medical history into EMR.
• Assist onsite doctor with eye examinations and document preliminary test results.
• Explain pre-testing steps to patients and document results in EMR.
• For remote appointments, assist patients through remote eye exams and document results.
• Transition patients to a retail associate with doctor recommendations.
• Preauthorize insurance and manage appointment bookings according to guidelines.
• Maintain patient records and ensure clean, organized clinical environment.
