Job summary

VisionWorks in Syracuse, NY is seeking a Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to help deliver a great patient experience by preparing patients for on-site or remote examinations, conducting pre-exam tests, and explaining each step of the process.

You will liaison between patients and Optometrists, assist with registrations in EMR, and support remote eye exams, including troubleshooting and documentation. Training provided for required certifications.

Qualifications

• One year of related healthcare experience or optical setting preferred.
• Strong customer service and communication abilities.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and collect/submit medical history and ocular data into EMR.
• Assist onsite eye examinations and explain preliminary testing to patients.
• Support remote eye exams with testing and video conferencing as needed.
• Transition patients to retail staff with doctor recommendations.
• Preauthorize insurance and manage appointment books per guidelines.
• Maintain patient records and assist with contact lens orders and stock.
