Job summary

Visionworks in Liverpool, NY seeks a Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to support patient journeys through pre-exam testing and exam entry. You will liaise between patients and optometrists, ensuring a smooth onsite and remote experience.

Responsibilities include patient registration, appointment coordination, insurance preauthorization, and maintaining EMR records with accuracy. Training is provided.

Qualifications

• One year of related experience.
• Optical or Healthcare background preferred.
• Medical office professionalism required.
• HS diploma, GED or equivalent related job experience.
• Training provided.

Responsibilities

• Complete patient registration and submit information into EMR.
• Assist onsite doctor with patient care and eye examinations; document results.
• Support remote exams: pre-testing, testing, and documenting results in EMR.
• Initiate remote video conferencing between staff and doctors.
• Transition exam results to a retail associate with recommendations.
• Preauthorize insurance and schedule appointments with guidelines.
• Maintain patient flow and respond to clinical questions.
• Instruct patients on contact lens use and stock orders.
• Maintain clean equipment and clinical supplies; health and safety compliance.
• Travel to other locations as needed.
