Job summary

Visionworks is seeking a Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant in New York to enhance patient experiences by preparing patients for on-site and remote examinations, running pre-exam diagnostics, and explaining each step of the process. You will liaise between patients and Optometrists and participate in initial patient journey steps.

The role requires at least one year of related experience, an optical or healthcare background is preferred, and a HS diploma or equivalent.

• Medical office/business professionalism required
• HS diploma, GED or equivalent related job experience
• Training provided

Responsibilities

• Complete patient registration and collect medical history and ocular health data into EMR.
• Assist onsite doctor with eye examinations and document preliminary testing results in EMR.
• For remote appointments, guide patients through remote eye exams and document results in EMR.
• Transition patients to a retail associate with doctor recommendations.
• Explain MVC plan benefits and preauthorize insurance according to SOPs.
• Coordinate with retail staff to schedule appointments and manage exam books.

Education

HS diploma or equivalent

One year of related experience

Optical or Healthcare background preferred
