Job summary

Visionworks in New York is seeking a Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to prepare patients for onsite and remote exams, run pre-exam tests, and explain each step to patients.

You will assist doctors, manage EMR data, support remote eye exams, explain insurance and vision plans, and help schedule follow-up appointments. The role is part-time with training provided and may require travel between locations.

Qualifications

• One year of related experience.
• Optical or Healthcare background preferred.
• Medical office professionalism required.
• HS diploma, GED or equivalent related job experience.
• Training provided.

Responsibilities

• Complete patient registration and submit information into EMR.
• Assist onsite doctor with eye examinations and document results.
• Support remote eye exams including pre-testing and conferencing.
• Transition patients to retail staff with doctor recommendations.
• Explain MVC plan benefits to patients.
• Preauthorize insurance per SOPs.
• Schedule exams and manage bookings, contact no-shows.
• Maintain patient records and instrument cleanliness.
• Instruct on contact lens handling and orders.
• Travel to other locations as needed.
