Job summary

AEG is seeking an Optician to provide expert eyewear solutions and exceptional patient care. You will assist patients with frame/lens selections, ensure correct measurements, and dispense lenses while maintaining high service standards.

You will manage orders, communicate with technicians and doctors, and stay current on insurance benefits and product offerings. This on-site role emphasizes accuracy, patient satisfaction, and teamwork in a busy practice.

Qualifications

• High School or GED qualification.
• ABO/NCLE preferred but not required.
• Minimum of one-year experience working as an Optician strongly preferred.
• Experience with HIPAA requirements preferred.
• PC skills to include MC Office, Windows, and Word Processing.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Excellent customer service skills and pleasant demeanor; sales experience is a plus.
• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients in selecting eyewear and accessories to fit prescription, lifestyle, and personal style.
• Ensure proper frame fit, accurate measurements, and correct lens dispensing.
• Provide exceptional patient service and explain customized product/service recommendations.
• Take and return patient calls; update patients on order status and resolve issues; escalate when needed.
• Educate patients on eyeglass/contact lens care, warranty coverage, and protection plans.
• Maintain understanding of medical and vision insurance plans, including coverage and copays.
• Interpret prescriptions and enter information into EHR and ALE system with proper documentation.
• Inspect final products for flaws; adjust eyewear for proper fit and comfort; perform repairs as needed.
• Communicate with technicians and managers about order status and patient needs.
