Job summary

AEG is seeking an Optician to provide expert eyewear solutions and exceptional patient care. You will help patients select frames and lenses that fit their prescription, lifestyle, and style, ensuring proper fit and accurate dispensing.

Deliver outstanding service and maintain up-to-date knowledge of products and procedures. You will interpret prescriptions, enter data into the EHR, coordinate with technicians and doctors, and communicate order status while upholding HIPAA standards.

Qualifications

• High School or GED qualification.
• ABO/NCLE preferred but not required.
• Minimum of one-year experience working as an Optician strongly preferred.
• Experience with HIPAA requirements preferred.
• PC skills to include MS Office, Windows, and Word Processing.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Excellent customer service skills and pleasant demeanor, experience with sales preferred.

Responsibilities

• Delivers extraordinary experience to each patient and explains customized recommendations for products and services.
• Receive patient handoff from technicians or doctors and establish rapport by asking lifestyle questions to identify visual needs.
• Keeps current on company/industry products, rebates, and types of lenses and frames.
• Takes and returns patient calls; updates and resolves order issues; escalates to management when needed.
• Assist patients in selecting frames; lens types and treatments; including coatings; based on needs.
• Educate patients on eyeglass and contact lens care, warranties, and replacement options.
• Interpret prescriptions; enter information into the EHR and ALE system; ensure documentation is complete.
• Follow-up on pending orders and notify patients when eyewear is ready.
