Job summary

AEG Vision in San Jose, CA, is seeking an Optician to provide expert eyewear solutions and exceptional patient care. You will interpret prescriptions, assist patients in selecting frames and lenses, ensure proper fit and accurate lens dispensing, and maintain strong customer service standards.

Role requires knowledge of insurance basics, product options, and patient communication; you will enter data into the EHR and coordinate with technicians for timely order completion.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required or equivalent.
• ABO/NCLE certification preferred but not required.
• Minimum of one-year experience as an Optician preferred.
• Experience with HIPAA privacy requirements preferred.
• Proficient PC skills including MS Office/Word processing.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Strong customer service and valid eyewear knowledge.
• Solid manual dexterity for lens fitting and adjustments.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert eyewear solutions and exceptional patient care.
• Assist patients in selecting frames and lenses fitting prescriptions and lifestyle.
• Verify proper frame fit, measurements, and lens dispensing accuracy.
• Interpret prescriptions written by Optometrist/Ophthalmologist and enter into EHR.
• Maintain knowledge of products, rebates, lens types, and coatings.
• Respond to patient calls, update on orders, and resolve issues.
• Educate patients on eyewear care, warranty, and protection plans.
• Collaborate with technicians and managers to ensure timely order fulfillment.
