Job summary

The Eye Doctors / Clarkson Eyecare in Saint Joseph, MO seeks an Optical Technician to dispense glasses and contacts, assist patients with frame selection, and ensure accurate measurements and lens fitting. You will work under ophthalmologists and optometrists to support both medical and retail needs.

Qualifications include HS diploma or GED, previous medical office exposure, and strong communication abilities.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
• Able to read, analyze and interpret insurance forms.
• Able to read and interpret safety rules and manuals.
• Strong writing skills for routine reports and correspondence.
• Effective public speaking when presenting to groups.
• HIPAA compliance is required for all associates.
• Background check may be required by state.
• Proof of identity and right to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Total Patient Experience while assisting with medical needs.
• Assist patients in frame selection based on style and measurements.
• Operate auto-lensometer and manual lensometer.
• Educate on lenses, coatings, and frames for patient needs.
• Take and record measurements for eyewear prescriptions.
• Dispense glasses and contact lens orders in the system.
• Maintain stocked, clean, and organized work areas.
• Follow office protocols and assist with other duties as needed.
