Job summary

Clarkson Eyecare in Ballwin, MO is seeking an Optical Technician to dispense glasses and contacts, working from prescriptions written by optometrists and ophthalmologists. You will help connect patient needs to the products we offer and contribute to a world-classTotal Patient Experience to maximize retail sales while supporting medical needs.

You will assist patients in frame selection, operate lensometry equipment, and maintain organized displays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous medical office experience preferred; ophthalmic experience preferred.
• ABO/ABOC and NCLE certifications preferred or obtainable within 2 years.
• Must provide proof of identity and right to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Embrace and execute the Total Patient Experience to build relationships with all patients while delivering great medical support.
• Determine patients’ wants and needs and sell to exceed expectations.
• Assist patients in selecting frames according to style and color, coordinating frames with measurements and prescriptions.
• Operate the auto-lensometer and manual lensometer.
• Educate and recommend lenses, coatings and frames to suit patient needs.
• Accurately collect measurements such as bridge, eye size, temple length, seg heights, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and pantoscopic tilt.
• Dispense orders and repair/adjust frames; dispense glasses and/or contact lens orders in the system.
• Maintain frame inventory and office cleanliness; assist with other duties as needed.
