Job summary

Clarkson Eyecare in Columbia, MO is seeking an Optical Technician to dispense glasses and contacts and support ophthalmic care. You will work from prescriptions written by optometrists and ophthalmologists to connect patient needs with our eyewear and services.

The role emphasizes ensuring a strong patient experience, accurate measurements, and collaboration with the clinical team. Experience in ophthalmic settings is preferred, and certifications are a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous medical office experience preferred; ophthalmic experience strongly preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year in a position interacting with customers/patients or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide world-class Total Patient Experience and build relationships with patients.
• Assist patients in selecting eyewear, coordinating frames with measurements and prescriptions.
• Operate auto-lensometer and manual lensometer.
• Educate and recommend lenses, coatings and frames to suit patient needs.
• Collect measurements such as bridge, eye size, temple length and pupillary distance.
• Dispense glasses and contact lens orders in the practice system.
• Maintain inventory, assist with office duties, and ensure policy compliance.
