Job summary

Intelligent Manufacturing Solutions (IMS) in Orlando, FL, via Advanced Laser Systems Technology (ALST), is seeking an Optical Engineering Specialist. You will drive hardware integration, testing, and final reports for laser and optical systems.

This role emphasizes alignment, cost control, and vendor collaboration. The job requires DoD-relevant optical engineering experience and the ability to obtain a security clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 5 years or Graduate degree and minimum of 3 years of prior relevant experience.
• 5+ years of Optical engineering experience in a DoD laser development environment.
• 3+ years’ experience writing technical documentation and developing analysis and reports.
• Proficient with standard engineering software.
• Experience with best practices for optical engineering and program execution and managing multi-discipline programs.

Responsibilities

• Develops and conducts alignment, test and integration of laser and optical systems.
• Keeps costs within the allocated budget, proactively identifying cost and technical risks.
• Supports with technical input for proposals in support of Business Development and Engineering teams.
• Estimate resource and material needs for project/product as it relates to the planned tasks.
• Support other functional areas to include recommendations for testing and production
• Interface with optical vendors providing technical documentation and guidance as needed for them to supply their components to meet system requirements
• Coordinate production transition / hand off to operations and quality efforts
• Assist with technical roadmap development
• Support hands on integration and testing of complex subsystems across all interfaces
• Occasional travel, domestic and international, to customer and supplier sites and other IMS locations as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
