Job summary

AEG Vision seeks an Optical Consultant to assist Optometrists and support patient care and education on-site. You will perform preliminary evaluations, interview patients, and help manage referrals and documentation to ensure a seamless visit experience.

The role emphasizes teamwork, compliance with HIPAA, and strong communication with patients and staff. On-site position with benefits such as 401(k), vision discounts, HSA/FSA, PTO and holidays.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in MS Office and Windows; good typing and document skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively assist patients and co-workers.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary patient evaluations prior to the optometrist exam (dilation, topical meds, imaging, acuity).
• Conduct patient interviews to determine needs and relay information to Optometrist.
• Schedule referrals and manage paperwork for referrals to ophthalmology or diagnostics.
• Maintain patient records in EHR and ensure HIPAA compliance.
• Assist with clerical duties and verify CPT codes and post-op billings.
