You will perform pre-exam evaluations, conduct patient interviews, schedule referrals, and assist with diagnostic tests and documentation. Strong communication and computer skills are essential to thrive in our fast-paced practice.

Qualifications

• High School or GED qualification.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• PC skills to include MS Office, Windows, and word processing.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with coworkers and patients.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations prior to Optometrist exam (dilation, topicals, diagnostic meds, Optomap, auto refractor, visual acuity).
• Conduct verbal interview with patient before visit to determine medical issues for the Optometrist.
• May schedule referrals to Ophthalmologists and other specialists and complete paperwork.
• Maintain patient records in HIPAA-compliant systems.
• Respond to patient inquiries regarding medications or treatment and refer to Optometrist as needed.
• Perform diagnostic testing using equipment (OCT, Visual Field, Pachymetry, Retinal Camera).
• Document medical findings and communications in EHR; assist with medical documentation and CPT/billing tasks.
• Assist with appointment confirmations and recall management to maximize schedule utilization.
• Conduct contact lens insertion/removal classes and manage inventory and orders.
• Handle end-of-day wrap-up and maintain a clean, organized practice area.
• May act as scribe for the Optometrist or perform refractions.
