Qualifications

• Experience evaluating patients for eye exams.
• Familiarity with medical terms related to eye treatment.
• Experience maintaining patient records per HIPAA.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations of patients prior to exam by the Optometrist, such as dilation, topicals, diagnostic medications, Optomap, auto refractor, visual acuity.
• Assists with specialty diagnostic testing and post-exam tasks.
• Manage the doctor’s appointment schedule to ensure an efficient, high-quality patient experience.
• Record medical findings and communication between Optometrist and patient in EHR; support medical documentation.
• Ensure maximum schedule utilization through pre- and post-appointment confirmations and recalls.
• May scribe for the Optometrist or perform refractions; help with clerical duties as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of frames, displays, and work area.
