Job summary

AEG is seeking an Optical Consultant to support Optometrists in delivering exceptional patient care. You will assist with evaluations, patient interviews, scheduling referrals, and maintaining accurate EHR documentation.

Responsibilities include assisting with diagnostic tests, managing recalls and inquiries, and helping with clerical duties as needed, while upholding HIPAA and office policies. Strong communication and teamwork are essential for success.

Qualifications

• High School or GED qualification.
• Strong attention to details and ability to work under pressure in fast paced environment.
• PC skills to include MC Office, Windows, and Word Processing.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively and professionally collaborate with co-workers and patients.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations of patients prior to exam by the Optometrist (dilation, topicals, diagnostic meds, etc.).
• Interview patients prior to visit to determine medical issues for the Optometrist.
• Schedule referrals and complete related paperwork as needed.
• Maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA and other policies.
• Respond to patient inquiries regarding medications, treatment, and next steps.
• May perform diagnostic testing with specialized equipment and document findings in EHR.
• Support clerical duties, verify CPT codes and post-op billing when required.
• Assist with frame boards, inventory and end-of-day wrap-up tasks.
