Job summary

AEG seeks an Optical Consultant to join our team, assisting Optometrists and delivering exceptional patient care. You will perform prelim evaluations, help with exams, schedule referrals, and maintain accurate records in the EHR system.

The role requires high school education, strong communication, and basic PC skills. Responsibilities include patient education, contact lens handling, and daily end-of-day tasks. Competitive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment.
• Strong computer skills with MS Office, Windows, and word processing.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to collaborate with coworkers and patients.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary patient evaluations prior to exams.
• Schedule referrals and follow-up visits as needed.
• Maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA.
• Respond to patient inquiries about medications and care.
• Perform diagnostic testing with equipment (OCT, Visual Field, etc.).
• Document findings in the EHR and assist with medical documentation.
• Ensure maximum schedule utilization with reminders and recalls.
• Assist with contact lens insertion/removal and inventory.
• End-of-day duties including schedule wrap-up and cleanup.
• Support scribes and other duties as requested.
