Retina Institute of Virginia is seeking a Surgical Coordinator to join our Ophthalmology team in Richmond, VA. You will help ensure the financial and surgical communication process for patients undergoing procedures, delivering patient-centered care.

Responsibilities include scheduling surgeries, coordinating pre-op visits, reviewing insurance benefits, and counseling patients on costs. Strong Excel/Office skills and reliability are essential; overtime and weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Experience in financial counseling and insurance is preferred.
• Ability to work over 40 hours and weekends.
• Desire to gain industry knowledge and training.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and coordinate surgery, and provide pre-surgery patient education.
• Check patient charts for insurance benefits, prepare cost summaries.
• Counsel patients regarding Physician Fee and Eye Surgery Center costs.
• Follow up on and collect surgery payments.
