Job summary

Center For Sight Las Vegas is seeking a Patient Counselor to support the operations of the Patient Counselor department under the supervision of the Patient Counselor Manager. You will maintain inventory, deliver patient education, manage scheduling, and review insurance coverage to assist patients in understanding costs.

The role requires strong communication, confidentiality, and multitasking abilities, with ophthalmology experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires High School diploma or equivalent.
• 1-2 years of clinical medical experience.
• Ophthalmology experience preferred.
• Requires ability to maintain strict confidentiality of all patient information.
• Requires ability to manage multiple job assignments under varying degrees of pressure (usually from deadlines)
• Requires strong written and oral communication skills
• Requires the ability to make informed, well thought-out decisions.
• Requires exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to benchmark workplace civility and promote a positive work environment.
• Requires strong computer competency, including the ability to learn new programs quickly.

Responsibilities

• Maintain daily inventory of brochures, surgical folders, consents and packets.
• Identify next patient from the Room Manager in NexTech.
• Explain cataract treatment options during education.
• Provide appointments that follow scheduling protocol.
• Assist patients with insurance coverage and out-of-pocket costs.
• Assist with consent for elective procedures and discuss options/risks.
• Explain diagnostic testing to patients.
• Provide one-week pre-surgery confirmation calls with arrival time, location, and medication instructions.
• Provide wellness calls on day of surgery and post-operative instructions.
• Review and prioritize calls/voicemails to address urgent issues.
• Return urgent calls/voicemails within 90 minutes to four hours.
• Perform other duties as requested by the Patient Counselor Manager.
