Job summary

Louisiana Eye and Laser seeks a Patient Counselor to coordinate ophthalmic surgery scheduling and act as the liaison between patients and surgeons, facilities, and preop staff. The role requires understanding of ophthalmic practice, insurance coverage, and strong communication with patients and teams.

The candidate will manage preop testing, consents, and financial disclosures, while maintaining confidentiality and accurate data entry in EMR systems. Experience in ophthalmology is preferred.

Qualifications

• Highschool Diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years in Medical Practice Experience highly preferred.
• Ophthalmology practice preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains surgical schedule for surgeons.
• Communicates to patients about scheduling, preop testing, insurance requirements, surgical consents.
• Coordinates paperwork and maintains patient confidentiality.
• Keeps up with daily log and weekly spreadsheet.
