This Patient Counselor is primarily responsible for educating Opthalmology patients and selling company services. This position will work with the patient from the time the patient enters the center and conduct follow up calls to ensure patients have an amazing experience.
Responsibilities
- Obtain surgical authorizations in an efficient and timely manner.
- Provide patients with generic preoperative information.
- Provide patients with accurate information pertaining to their procedure.
- Answer all surgery related incoming calls.
- Serve as a liaison between patient and medical staff.
- Schedule appointments for surgery for all physicians at the clinic in accordance.
- Cancel/reschedule appointments according to physician schedule changes.
- Obtain and enter all surgical authorizations and correspondence relating to referrals in all related programs.
- Prepare surgical charts and verify that all surgery forms, consents and documentation have been signed and filed in chart.
- Maintain office surgery scheduling program containing all pertinent surgery information.
- Arrange for patients to have financial counseling as needed.
- Check patients in surgery schedule for the physician.
- Maintain the privacy of all patient protected health information and comply with HIPAA.
- Maintain surgeon’s surgery schedule.
Qualifications
- 2+ years experience in patient counseling and/or sales, preferably in an Opthalmology or surgical practice.
- Experience with Opthalmology/Optometric testing modalities, preferred.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to deliver an exceptional patient experience.
