Job summary

AVP•SEES Group is seeking a Surgery Counselor to coordinate all aspects of ophthalmology surgical scheduling. You will act as the liaison between patients, surgeons, and facilities, managing pre/post-operative appointments, authorizations, and patient education.

You’ll ensure accurate procedure details, verify coverage, and guide patients through pre-op and post-op care while maintaining HIPAA compliance and delivering exceptional patient experience.

Qualifications

• Two years of surgical scheduling experience in healthcare.
• Knowledge of insurance authorizations and billing for surgical services.
• Experience with EHR systems and practice management software.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule surgeries with provider and facility availability.
• Communicate dates, instructions, and pre/post-operative care to patients.
• Obtain and verify insurance authorizations and coverage.
• Ensure pre-operative requirements are completed before surgery.
• Educate patients on costs, payment plans, and coverage.
