Job summary

AVP SEES Group is seeking a Surgery Counselor to coordinate all surgical scheduling for an ophthalmology practice, acting as the liaison among patients, surgeons, and facilities. You will manage pre- and post-operative appointments, authorizations, and patient education to ensure a seamless experience.

Requirements include at least two years of surgical scheduling in healthcare, COA preferred, and strong front desk procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's in healthcare admin preferred.
• Minimum of two years scheduling surgeries in a healthcare setting, ophthalmology preferred.
• COA certification preferred.
• Strong front desk and patient service knowledge.
• Ability to access and interpret insurance and billing basics.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule surgeries with accurate details and provider availability.
• Communicate surgery dates, instructions, and pre/post-operative care.
• Obtain and verify insurance authorizations for procedures.
• Ensure all pre-operative requirements are completed before surgery.
• Serve as liaison among patients, surgeons, and facilities.
• Provide cost estimates, payment plans, and coverage information.
• Maintain organized scheduling to optimize efficiency and reduce conflicts.
• Develop and implement scheduling policies and best practices.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality in all tasks.
• Assist with post-operative follow-ups and patient education.
