Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a detail-oriented Surgery Coordinator to help patients navigate pre-operative scheduling and education for ophthalmology procedures. The role emphasizes coordinating with physicians, hospitals, and patients to ensure smooth scheduling and accurate insurance authorizations.

You will assist with explanations of required tests, manage documentation in Care Cloud EMR, and maintain a professional, patient-centered environment while adhering to all applicable regulations.

Qualifications

• REQUIRED: High School education, GED or equivalent.
• DESIRABLE: Experience in Ophthalmology Industry; Experience in a medical office and/or customer service.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures based on physician recommendation.
• Verify patient demographics, health history, and insurance information.
• Navigate Care Cloud EMR to schedule patients accurately.
• Act as liaison between patient, surgeons, and hospital for pre-operative preparations.
• Explain need for a complete physical exam, tests (labs, EKG, chest x-ray) and informed consent.
• Respond to telephone inquiries from patients and families about surgery.
• Follow up with physicians and labs to ensure test results are received and sent to hospital or Surgery Center.
• Maintain professional appearance and adhere to company policies.
• Maintain timely communication with supervisor and keep commitments.
• Support a clean, cheerful patient environment and comply with regulations.
