Job summary

North Star Vision is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to prepare patients for exams, perform preliminary testing, and assist the Optometrist in procedures. You will conduct vision screenings, administer eye medications, and maintain exam rooms with strict sterilization standards.

Responsibilities include recording medical history in the Athena EHR, assisting with minor procedures, and ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the visit.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic Life Support Certification required.
• Proficiency in computers and customer service principles.
• Experience with electronic health records preferred.

Responsibilities

• Acts as clinical assistant to Optometrist.
• Performs complete ophthalmic history and preliminary exams, sub-specialty tests.
• Interviews patient to obtain and record medical history in Athena EHR.
• Prepares patients for examination by dilating pupils and taking vitals.
• Maintains a safe and compliant clinical environment.
• Sets up and preps for minor procedures and maintains instrument sterilization.
