Job summary

Midwest Vision Partners is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to assist in a clinical setting, greeting patients, explaining the visit, and guiding them through ophthalmic testing before the physician review. You will perform tests such as visual acuity, tonometry, and lensometry, and ensure accurate documentation in the EMR.

The role emphasizes patient communication, precise charting, and support for minor procedures and injections, with HIPAA-compliant handling of patient data.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and explain what to expect during the appointment.
• Escort patients to exam rooms and perform diagnostic ophthalmic tests and procedures (visual acuity, tonometry, lensometry).
• Enter patient information into EMR and maintain accurate notes in the chart/records.
• Assist with minor procedures and laser treatments in the exam or treatment room.
• Educate patients on medication administration and pre/post-operative instructions.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and safeguard patient information.
