Job summary

Fite Eye Center (FEC) is seeking a Surgery Coordinator to manage scheduling and coordination of ophthalmology surgeries across multiple locations. The role involves liaison with surgeons, facilities, anesthesia teams, insurers, and clinical staff to ensure a smooth patient experience.

Responsibilities include scheduling, pre-op testing coordination, insurance pre-authorizations, patient communication, and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as Surgical Scheduler/Coordinator or equivalent title; ophthalmology experience preferred.
• Experience with EHR software; Nextech/ICP experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of contracted insurance plans and procedures.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Must have ability to travel to all practice locations as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Schedules ophthalmic surgeries (cataract, glaucoma, retina, etc.) according to surgeon availability and facility requirements.
• Coordinates pre-op testing and ensures supplies are ordered ahead of procedure dates.
• Obtains pre-authorizations and verifies benefits for surgical procedures and implants.
• Communicates with patients about surgery dates, instructions, and post-op care.
• Maintains accurate surgical documentation and HIPAA-compliant records.
• Tracks post-op care, waitlists, and reschedules as needed.
