Job summary

EyeSouth Partners, affiliated with Fite Eye Center in the Metro Detroit area, seeks a Surgical Scheduler/Coordinator to manage ophthalmic surgery schedules, pre-op testing, and patient communications. You will coordinate with surgeons, facilities, anesthesia, and staff to ensure smooth operations.

Ideal candidates have at least 2 years of surgical scheduling experience in ophthalmology, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and familiarity with EHR systems.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Surgical Scheduler/Coordinator or equivalent title; ophthalmology experience preferred.
• Experience with EHR software; Nextech/ICP experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedules ophthalmic surgeries (e.g. cataract, glaucoma, retina, oculoplastic, pediatric) per surgeon availability and facility requirements.
• Coordinates pre-op testing and ensures necessary equipment, lenses, and supplies are ordered ahead of procedure dates.
• Obtains pre-authorizations for surgery, verifies benefits, documents authorization details in the EMR, and discusses patient costs.
