Job summary

Associated Retinal Consultants in Royal Oak, MI is seeking an Ophthalmic Scribe/Technician to support physicians in a fast-paced clinical setting. You will perform preliminary workups, document patient histories, and assist with examinations and treatments under supervision.

The position requires retina terminology knowledge, EMR proficiency, and strong communication skills. Training in OCT and ophthalmic procedures is provided, with occasional travel to other locations and a focus on accurate

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Technician (COT) certification preferred.
• Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Functions as Scribe with retina ophthalmology terminology.
• Prepare patients and rooms for treatments as directed by the Physician.
• Obtain patient history including medications, allergies and family eye history.
• Identify patient concerns and inform the Office Coordinator or Physician as appropriate.
• Measure and record distance and near visual acuity; perform preliminary refraction.
• Measure intraocular pressures and assess pupillary responses.
• Perform basic visual field testing and patient education.
• Prepare patients for treatments; record vital signs as required.
• Maintain accurate procedure coding/charges in the EMR.
• Provide consistent, excellent customer service.
• Travel to other locations as assigned.
• Duties may include clerical tasks as needed.
