Job summary

Associated Retinal Consultants in Royal Oak, MI seeks an Ophthalmic Scribe / Technician to support physicians in a busy ophthalmology clinic. You will perform preliminary patient workups, document histories, measure acuity, assist with examinations, and ensure accurate EMR input.

The role requires ophthalmic terminology knowledge, strong keyboarding, and excellent customer service. Certifications such as COA/COT or OSC are preferred. Some travel to other locations may be required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of retina‑specific ophthalmology terminology and procedures.
• Ability to type accurately and input data into Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
• Attention to detail and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Scribe for Physicians and assist with examinations and treatments.
• Prepare patients and rooms for treatments as directed by the Physician.
• Measure visual acuity and perform basic refraction under supervision.
• Capture patient history, medications, allergies and family ocular history.
• Instill eye drops and assist with minor procedures as directed.
• Maintain clean, stocked exam and treatment rooms and manage supplies.
