Job summary

Associated Retinal Consultants in Grand Rapids, MI seeks an Ophthalmic Scribe / Technician to support physicians in ophthalmology clinic operations. You will prepare patients, record histories, perform ancillary tests and assist with examinations under physician direction.

The role requires knowledge of retina terminology, accurate data entry in EMR, and strong communication. A COA/COT is preferred; travel to other locations may be required. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Must understand ophthalmic terminology and input data accurately.
• Ability to type accurately with speed and operate EMR.
• Strong attention to detail and keyboard skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication; teamwork important.

Responsibilities

• Scribe for physicians and assist with examinations as directed.
• Prepare patients and rooms for treatments and minor procedures.
• Record medical history, medications, allergies and family history.
• Measure visual acuity, tonometry and basic refraction as trained.
• Perform basic visual field testing and educate patients.
• Maintain accurate procedure codes and EMR entries.
• Keep rooms stocked, manage supplies and assist in procedures.
• Drive to other locations as assigned and support multiple sites.
