Job summary

Associated Retinal Consultants PC is seeking an Ophthalmic Scribe / Technician in Traverse City, MI. The role supports Physicians by providing preliminary patient work-ups, scribing during examinations, and assisting with ophthalmic procedures.

Training is provided for certification and entry into Electronic Medical Records under physician supervision. The position requires travel to other locations as needed and a commitment to accurate documentation and patient care.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of retina-specific ophthalmology terminology.
• Strong keyboarding and data-entry accuracy.
• Ability to obtain and document patient medical history and ocular history.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Team oriented and adaptable to clinical workflow.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients and rooms for treatments and minor procedures.
• Take patient ophthalmic history and document medications, allergies, and family history.
• Measure visual acuity and pinhole acuity; perform preliminary refraction.
• Measure intraocular pressures and assess pupillary responses.
• Perform basic visual field testing and patient education.
• Record vital signs and assist in examinations as directed by Physician.
• Provide ophthalmic scribe duties and assist with OCT and treatment procedures.
• Maintain clean and stocked examination rooms; manage supplies and drug counts.
• Complete OSC certification and order entry under Physician supervision.
• Assist in patient transfers and travel to other locations as assigned.
