Job summary

Key Whitman Eye Center in North Arlington, TX, seeks an Ophthalmic Assistant to support physicians and clinical staff in a fast-paced ophthalmology practice. You will obtain patient histories, perform diagnostic testing, document clinical findings in the EMR, and assist with procedures while ensuring clear patient instructions and high-quality care.

Responsibilities include refractometry, tonometry support, instrument sterilization, and maintaining patient confidentiality in line with HIPAA

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year medical/ophthalmic experience preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with EMR systems and HIPAA awareness.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and document accurate patient histories.
• Perform lensometry and visual acuity testing.
• Conduct ophthalmic diagnostic testing (HVF, HRT, IOLMaster, etc.).
• Perform functional ocular measurements and refractometry.
• Administer topical ophthalmic medications and assist with procedures.
• Document findings and treatment plans in the EMR.
• Provide clear post-operative instructions and ensure patient understanding.
