Job summary

Key Whitman Eye Center in Dallas, TX is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to join a fast-paced, patient-facing clinic. You will work closely with physicians to document patient records, perform pre-test duties, and assist with procedures while delivering compassionate patient care.

Ideal candidates have 1 year of medical/ophthalmic experience, a high school diploma, and EMR proficiency; JCAHPO or CPR certifications are preferred. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• JCAHPO certification preferred.
• CPR certification preferred.
• Minimum 1 year medical/ophthalmic scribe experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain accurate patient history.
• Perform lensometry.
• Conduct diagnostic eye tests and basic imaging (HVF, HRT, IOLMaster, fundus photography).
• Obtain accurate visual acuities with basic optics understanding.
• Record patient medical history in the EMR and input treatments or procedures.
• Administer topical ophthalmic medications.
• Perform tonometry by tonopen or applanation.
• Maintain and sterilize surgical instruments/equipment.
• Assist physicians with postoperative instructions to patients.
• Communicate effectively with patients, physicians and staff.
