Job summary

Surgery Partners, Inc. is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to support physicians and clinical staff in a fast-paced ophthalmology practice at the Key-Whitman Eye Center.

You will obtain patient histories, perform diagnostic testing, document findings in the EMR, assist with procedures, and ensure patients receive clear post-care instructions. The role requires strong communication, HIPAA knowledge, and accuracy in documentation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum one year of ophthalmic or medical experience preferred.
• Proficiency with EMR systems and basic computer skills.
• HIPAA knowledge and patient privacy commitment.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and document accurate patient histories.
• Perform lensometry and visual acuity testing.
• Conduct ophthalmic diagnostic testing (HVF, HRT, IOLMaster, basic fundus photography).
• Perform functional ocular measurements (color vision, BAT, Schirmer, Amsler Grid).
• Conduct refractometry and administer topical ophthalmic medications.
• Perform tonometry using Tonopen or applanation techniques.
• Maintain and sterilize ophthalmic instruments per protocols.
• Assist physicians with ophthalmic procedures and specimens.
• Document findings and treatment plans in EMR.
• Provide patients with clear post-operative instructions.
