Key Whitman Eye Center in Mesquite, TX seeks an Ophthalmic Assistant to work closely with physicians and document patient records, input treatment recommendations, and support the eye care team in a fast-paced clinic.

The role requires strong communication, EMR proficiency, and knowledge of basic ophthalmic testing and pharmacology. A supportive environment with opportunities to grow within ophthalmology awaits the right candidate.

Competenze

• Minimum 1 Year Medical/Ophthalmic Scribe experience preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Some college coursework or Associates degree preferred.
• JCAHPO certification preferred.
• CPR preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skill.
• Able to think quickly and be attentive.
• Be able to work in a fast paced, team environment.
• Communicate effectively with patients, physicians and staff members.
• Must demonstrate commitment to ongoing educations and uphold to the highest ethical principles of maintaining confidentiality.
• Proficient in EMR and computer literacy.
• Well organized and attentive to detail.
• Proficiency in a second language highly desirable.
• HIPAA knowledge and compliance.

Mansioni

• Obtains accurate patient history.
• Performs lensometry.
• Performs diagnostic testing of the eye with basic understanding of HVF, HRT, IOLmaster and fundus photography.
• Obtains accurate visual acuities with basic optics understanding.
• Demonstrates ability to perform ocular measurements such as color vision and Amsler grid tests.
• Demonstrates ability to perform refractometry.
• Administers topical ophthalmic medications.
• Performs tonometry by tonopen or applanation.
• Maintains and sterilizes surgical instruments.
• Assists physicians with punctual plugs procedures.
• Verbalizes post-operative instructions clearly to patients.
• Understands basic ocular pharmacology; knows meds and uses.
