Job summary

Key-Whitman Eye Center is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to assist physicians with a range of eye care procedures and document patient records. The role includes performing lensometry, diagnostic testing and refractive tasks, while maintaining patient safety and confidentiality.

The ideal candidate has strong communication skills, is comfortable in a fast-paced clinic, and may have ophthalmic scribe experience; bilingual skills are a plus. This is a full-time, on-site position.

Qualifications

• 1 year medical/ophthalmic scribe experience preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and patient confidentiality.
• Familiar with EMR systems and basic computer literacy.
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced, team environment.
• Bilingual abilities considered a plus.

Responsibilities

• Document patient medical records and input treatment recommendations by physicians.
• Perform lensometry and diagnostic testing of the eye including HVF, HRT, IOLmaster and photography basic tests.
• Administer topical ophthalmic medications and perform tonometry.
• Maintain and sterilize surgical instruments and assist with procedures.
• Communicate postoperative instructions clearly to patients.
• Coordinate with physicians and staff in a fast-paced clinic.
