Job summary

Surgery Partners, Inc. is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to work closely with clinic physicians, documenting patient records and inputting treatment recommendations. The role includes performing lensometry, basic and complex eye tests, and assisting with procedures at the Eye Center.

The ideal candidate has ophthalmic scribe experience, strong communication skills, and proficiency with EMR systems. This on-site position offers comprehensive benefits and operates within a fast-paced team

Qualifications

• 1 year ophthalmic scribe experience preferred
• High School Diploma or GED required
• CPR and HIPAA knowledge preferred
• Proficient in EMR and computer literacy

Responsibilities

• Obtains accurate patient history
• Performs lensometry
• Performs diagnostic testing of the eye (HVF, HRT, IOLMaster, biopen, fundus photography)
• Obtains accurate visual acuities with basic optics understanding
• Performs ocular measurements (color vision, B AT, Schirmer, Amsler grid)
• Performs refractometry
• Administers topical ophthalmic medications
• Performs tonometry (Tonopen or applanation)
• Maintains and sterilizes surgical instruments
• Assists physicians with punctual plugs
• Explains post-operative instructions clearly to patients
• Understands basic ocular pharmacology and medications
