Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• CPR certification required (American Heart Association or American Red Cross).
• One year work experience, preferably in an eye-related field.

Responsibilities

• Performs preliminary screenings as ordered by physician, including patient medical/ocular histories, visual acuity, tonometry, lensometry, pupil exam, ocular medication, and visual field testing.
• Maintains ophthalmic exam lanes/equipment and cleans equipment per guidelines; keeps exam rooms in good condition.
• Ensures exam room/lane are stocked appropriately.
• Interacts professionally with patients, families, coworkers, and physicians; maintains patient confidentiality.
• Participates in ongoing professional development and maintains CPR certification.
• Under physician direction, may perform prescription refills following guidelines.
• Demonstrates commitment to patient service and quality of care.
