Job summary

Advocate Health in Winston-Salem, NC is seeking a dedicated Ophthalmic Assistant to support ophthalmic exams under a physician. You will collect patient histories, obtain visual acuity, perform tonometry and related testing, and maintain exam lanes and equipment.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED, CPR certification, and at least one year of eye-related experience. A Monday–Friday 8am–5pm schedule and a $6,000 sign-on bonus are available to eligible candidates.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• CPR certification required.
• One year work experience, preferably in an eye-related field.

Responsibilities

• Performs preliminary screenings including history, visual acuity, tonometry, lensometry and pupil exam.
• Maintains ophthalmic exam lanes/equipment and clean exam rooms.
• Ensures exam room is stocked and organized.
• Interacts with patients and families professionally while maintaining confidentiality.
• Maintains CPR certification and ongoing professional development per JCAHPO guidelines.
• Under physician supervision may perform prescription refills per guidelines.
