Job summary

Atrium Health is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to join our High Point clinic. This full-time, day-shift role performs preliminary eye screenings, maintains exam lanes and equipment, and supports physicians with patient care.

Requirements include a High School diploma or GED and CPR certification, plus at least one year of eye-related work experience. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• CPR certification required.
• One year work experience, preferably in an eye-related field.

Responsibilities

• Performs preliminary screenings as ordered by physician, including patient histories, visual acuity, tonometry, lensometry, pupil exam, and ocular medications.
• Maintains ophthalmic exam lanes and equipment, cleans equipment, and keeps exam rooms stocked.
• Interacts with patients, families, coworkers, and physicians in a professional, courteous manner; preserves patient confidentiality.
• Maintains required competencies and continuing education hours; keeps CPR current during employment.
• Under physician direction, may perform prescription refills following standard guidelines.
