Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking a operations leader to oversee personnel, safety, and efficiency in our Illinois waste services branch. You will drive DOT compliance, ensure equipment and route discipline, and supervise payroll-related paperwork and performance reviews.

Role emphasizes maintaining high appearance standards, adherence to wage laws, and coordinating with drivers to meet service commitments. A CDL may be required, with 2–3 years in waste industry preferred.

Qualifications

• BA or BS Degree required or equivalent experience.
• 2-3 years experience in waste industry desired.
• May require Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Responsibilities

• Ensure fair treatment of all personnel.
• Establish and maintain high appearance standards throughout operations.
• Practice progressive discipline with employee performance issues.
• Ensure proper completion of driver paperwork daily (truck reports, logs, inspections).
• Conduct annual performance reviews and approve compensation changes.
• Adhere to wage and hour guidelines.
• Establish priorities to meet customer service commitments.
• Direct collection and disposal services to optimize personnel and equipment use.
• Establish and review productivity standards at each operation phase.
• Protect and preserve assets.
• Ensure all drivers are DOT compliant.
• Be familiar with and ensure DOT regulation compliance.
• Enter product line data into Tower daily; assist route audits.
