Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking an Operations Supervisor to lead and develop a production workforce within our waste management operations. The role focuses on safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance across transfer stations or landfills.

You will supervise personnel, ensure training, and implement preventive maintenance to reduce downtime. The position requires strong leadership, hands-on safety oversight, and the ability to manage records, equipment, and operational procedures.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• 3+ years in the waste industry with supervisory experience.
• SWANA transfer station certification required within 60 days for Transfer Stations.
• Landfill role requires baler and bobcat experience and training for hazardous materials removal (Freon, etc.).
• Experience reading and interpreting safety rules, manuals, and reports.

Responsibilities

• Screen, hire, train, and develop personnel to meet service commitments.
• Enforce wage-hour laws and compensate staff per guidelines.
• Ensure safe working conditions and conduct safety meetings.
• Develop preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and costs.
• Manage records and inventory of supplies and materials.
• Operate necessary equipment and comply with laws and company policies.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
