Job summary

Advocate Health in Charlotte, NC seeks a Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team. You will assist in aseptic technique, prepare patients, instruments, and supplies, and help maintain room turnover for complex procedures.

Responsibilities include sterilization monitoring, documentation of charges, participation in in-services, and potential preceptor duties. A high school diploma and BLS are required; surgical tech training or military OR training is expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider required.
• Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology or completion of military training for Surgical Technology or Operating Room Specialist.
• 2 years operating room experience in a surgical technologist role preferred (as of 5/26/2019).
• Current certification preferred.
• Meets qualifications of ST II in Surgical Tech Ladder.
• New grads considered if eager to build broad clinical skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in aseptic technique and instrument handling during surgical procedures.
• Assist RN circulator in preparation of patient, supplies, instruments and room turnover.
• Monitor sterilization and ensure supplies are used properly; document charges.
• Attend in-services and participate in Performance Improvement processes.
• Assist in development of department policies, procedures and standards.
• May serve as a preceptor and clinical resource to others.
