Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking a part-time OR Tech at Great Bend Hospital to support the perioperative care team. The role focuses on patient care assistance, environment upkeep, transportation of patients and supplies, equipment setup, and collaboration with nursing and housekeeping duties in the operating room and PACU.

Required are a High School Diploma, CNA certification, and BLS. Candidates should be able to work with sterile fields and maintain environmental cleanliness,

Qualifications

• Knowledge of sterile field and surgical prep areas.
• Ability to transport and position patients safely.
• Understanding of body mechanics in a perioperative setting.
• Awareness of environmental cleanliness standards in operating rooms.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of sterile field.
• Illustrates proper technique for transporting and positioning patients safely.
• Displays understanding of proper body mechanics.
• Demonstrates handling of special bed positions as required.
• Maintains operating room cleanliness and order in ancillary areas.
• Sets up equipment and gathers supplies for procedures.
• Performs equipment maintenance and basic repairs as needed.
• Participates in department quality improvement projects.
