Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System seeks a Surgical Technologist to support OR procedures under RN and manager supervision. You will maintain sterile field, anticipate surgeon needs, and handle instruments, drapes, and sutures with high precision.

Responsibilities include preparing the operating room, ensuring equipment safety, and assisting with patient transfer while upholding best practices in sterile technique.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required. Surgical Tech certificate/Associate degree preferred.
• Three years of experience as a Surgical Technologist may substitute for the degree.
• BLS or related certification may be required as per program policies.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the operating room for procedures.
• Ensures surgical equipment is functioning safely.
• Prepares and handles supplies and instruments using sterile technique.
• Provides surgical assistance and passes instruments to the surgeon.
• Maintains sterile field and assists with patient positioning.
• Participates in time-out process to verify patient, procedure and site.
