Job summary

Great Bend Hospital in Great Bend, KS is seeking an OR Tech to support the perioperative care team. The role involves patient care assistance, environment maintenance, and equipment setup in the Operating Room and PACU.

Responsibilities include maintaining sterile technique, assisting with patient transport, and ensuring equipment readiness while collaborating with multiple departments. Prior CNA/BLS credentials are preferred and required within specified timelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• BLS certification within first two weeks of employment.
• Successful completion of a nurse assistant training program.
• Knowledge of operating room environment and sterile techniques.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of sterile field.
• Illustrates proper technique for transporting and positioning patients safely.
• Displays understanding of proper body mechanics.
• Demonstrates special positions and/or bed positions.
• Recognizes the area of surgical prep (clean or sterile).
• Maintains environmental cleanliness standards of operating rooms and ancillary areas.
• Demonstrates proper technique for surgical skin preps.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
• Assesses case schedule and determines equipment and supply needs.
• Sets up equipment and gathers supplies.
• Completes equipment maintenance, checks and repairs and coordinates repairs as needed.
• Participates in department quality improvement projects.
• Performs professional, clinical and/ or technical competencies of the assigned unit.
